The US Army
implements RACOM’s Broadband Mobile Data Solution at the Rock
Island Arsenal

RACOM Corporation, a pioneer in private wireless communication
systems, today announced the successful implementation of a
mobile broadband wireless solution for the US Army at Rock
Island Arsenal. This solution will increase safety and help
the RIA Police and Fire Departments improve efficiency. Public
safety officers have always relied upon information that could
only be accessed from within the office. Not only does this
force them to spend two to three hours of their shift in the
office, it hinders their ability to make decisions while out in
the field. RACOM’s solution now gives them access to this
information from within their vehicles, increasing productivity
and better protecting officers and the public they serve.
RACOM’s solution will deliver data across the
entire island at rates up to 500 Kbps, 50 to 100 times faster
than traditional public safety mobile data solutions. Officers
will be able to access their records management system, NCIC/State
databases, local databases, Email and the Internet. RACOM has
deployed similar solutions for several other towns and agencies
in the last year, with dozens of others investigating the
potential. This level of interest is indicative of the growing
need for communities to support local police and fire efforts to
protect their citizens and property. RACOM’s solutions
