ICRI Radio Interconnect Device from RACOM

The Commercial Equipment Direct Assist Program (CEDAP) lets police and fire departments serving populations of less than 100,000 request equipment they need from a pre-approved catalog list without the complications associated with most grant applications.

CEDAP has selected the ICRI Radio Interconnect Device for its 2006 catalogue.

Applications for Phase II of the Program will be accepted through 1700EST on Friday, 13 January 2006. Note that applicants must be registered users of the RKB in order to submit a CEDAP application. To register for a free account on the RKB, go to: http://www.rkb.mipt.org/.

Description:
ICRI provides a rugged, highly-portable, radio cross-band (VHF, UHF, 800MHz), cross platform (digital/analog, trunked/talk-around, AM/FM), VoIP capability for mutual aid operations.

Enhance the radio link between an emergency response team operating in areas of poor RF propagation (inside-outside buildings, tunnels) and remotely located C2 personnel by serving as a rapidly field-able "repeater."

An effective and low-cost solution to establish immediate C2 with the dissimilar radios of Special Response Teams including USAR, police, medical triage, WMD and other supporting agencies. Also ideal for enhancing in-building and below grade radio communications. Highly portable, ICRI measures 10x4x7" and weighs 3.5 pounds. Deployment requires just 2-5 minutes with minimal 'operator' training.

The ICRI comes with a 5 year warranty. In the event your ICRI unit requires repair, C-AT will pay FedEx Express Saver shipping BOTH ways to either repair it at our facility or we'll ship you the parts (customer's choice). Cables and accessories are warranted for 1 year.

ICRI Capabilities:

A. Compatibility--without customization or user adjustment at the scene:

  • Commercial and military land mobile radios (portable/mobile, narrow band, wide band, low band VHF, high band VHF, UHF, 400MHz, 700MHz 800MHz [conventional/trunked], analog/digital, clear/encrypted), new and old models,
  • Military radio equipment (“green gear”),
  • Satellite telephones (Iridium, GlobalStar, Inmarsat, MSV),
  • Cellular telephones (with/without 2.5mm output),
  • Land-line telephones,
  • P25 compliant communications devices,
  • VoIP (EdgeAccess, UNISYS, Cisco, Catalyst)
  • Hybrid cellular telephone/walkie-talkies (Nextel “Direct Connect,” Verizon, Sprint)

B. Operable by police/fire first responder with only cursory familiarization (no formal training or scheduled refresher classes are needed). No special radio or computer skills required to achieve full interoperability at an incident.

C. Easily maintained by police/fire first responder with only cursory familiarization with the equipment (again, no formal training or scheduled refresher classes). No calibration required.

D. Physically small to permit deployment in crowded apparatus and easy movement between shift apparatus.

E. Rugged construction for harsh handling/environments including palletizing for air lift or commercial airline checked baggage or travel--without requiring overpacking--and in police/fire apparatus.

F. Operates on readily-available “AA” alkaline batteries for the longest possible duration with the smallest number of cells -- minimizes voltage and current requirements.

G. Operates over a wide range of supply voltages. Rapidly configurable to operate in situations where “normal” power sources (AC, alkaline or rechargeable batteries) are not available.

H. Operates without a computer or data entry controller because crashes and rebooting are inevitable, and interoperability can not be interrupted for the duration of the process.

I. Configuration and settings are completely unaffected by momentary power loss, because the unexpected always happens.

J. Operate as a repeater to improve VHF, UHF and 800MHz trunked radio systems during in-building and below grade incidents, including subways, arenas, shopping centers, hospitals and high rise buildings.
