Mobile Data Solution Components
Since 2003 we've been working on and evaluating components of
high speed mobile data solutions in order to make them effective
for mission critical work environments - public safety, public
service and utility.
The
major components of these solutions may include:
Access Points
The "towers". The locations providing the coverage.
Subscriber Units (SU)
The radios in the vehicle that talk to the "towers".
Mobile Access Points
A Wi-Fi hotspot that extends wireless access from the
vehicle to an area surrounding the vehicle (up to a few
hundred feet). Works with laptops, hand-held PDA's and
other 802.11 compatible devices.
Wireless Router
A device that connects the SU, the laptop, camera and other
devices in the car and provides the mobile access point.
NEMA Enclosure
A weather-proof device to house and protect components in
the trunk.
Laptop
Either a conventional or ruggedized laptop computer within
the vehicle or mobile around the vehicle.
In-car camera
Analog or digital camera for in-car recording and/or sending
live video back to dispatch, administration or other
vehicles.
Digital Video Recording
A software application to store and manage videos from
in-car, surveillance and security cameras.
Recording Service
A service offering storing your videos for 1, 2, 7, 14 or 30
days.
Cameras
Indoor and outdoor cameras.
Mobile Data Software
A software application or service to enable queries against
state and federal databases. Also provides car-to-car
messaging
Mobile Records
A software application for the vehicle that provides mobile
access to records management, field reporting and silent
dispatch.
Wireless Backhaul
High speed wireless links connecting your local area network
to the "towers".
