What is WiMAX (802.16)?
WiMAX is an acronym that stands for Worldwide
Interoperability for Microwave Access.
It is a wireless access technology that offers
many similar usages as the more common Wi-Fi/802.11 protocols,
yet delivers faster speeds over longer distances.
It's a second generation technology that also
avoids interference better than Wi-Fi and will be available for
both licensed and unlicensed use.
WiMAX-ready and Pre-WiMAX point-to-point and
point-to-multipoint solutions are available today from RACOM.
Mobile WiMAX solutions are still on the horizon, so RACOM is
focusing efforts on mobile
technologies that work today.
