Role Overview

In this role, you will report to the Controller and CFO on a daily basis and will be primarily responsible for working in the ERP system with oversight of general ledger transactions, preparation and review of the financial statements, and complex accounting issue as they arise.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversight of general accounting matters.
  • Work with other accounting teams and accounting personnel in other locations. 
  • Work effectively with operational areas of the business.
  • Support to the Accounting Team’s monthly closing process, to include routine entries, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, and accruals.
  • Manage advanced accounting issues such as lease accounting, revenue recognition and consolidation of multiple legal entities.
  • Play a key role in ongoing company-wide financial process modernization, to include shifting emphasis to digital execution of payments and approvals.
  • Develop and document effective internal controls and general accounting procedures.
  • Supervision of Office Administrators across 15 service center locations.
  • Work with external auditors and tax preparers


  1. Experience
  • 6+ Years, General Accounting experience
  • 3+ supervisory experience
  1. Skills
  • Can-do attitude, willingness to “roll up sleeves” as team player
  • Self-starter, able to digest broader team’s goal and work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; ability to represent Eastern to our customers
  • Prior experience with QuickBooks and NetSuite (other comparable accounting software systems also considered)
  • Advanced Excel capabilities
  • Familiarity with GAAP and ability to research new accounting issues
  • Multi-state sale tax reporting experience preferred
  1. Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  1. Location
  • Primarily based in our Marshalltown, IA office (3 days/week minimum)
  • Flexibility to work out of our other Central Iowa offices in Des Moines or
    Cedar Rapids for remaining 2 days/week
  • Business hours are from 8 AM – 5 PM
