Job Details

We monitor and support specialized phone and voice recorders, response pagers, and radio systems, and we have a current opening for a full-time Network Operations Center (NOC) Operator.

  • Our customers serve their communities on a 24/7(365) basis, and to help meet their unique needs, we operate a 24/7(365) Network Operations Center (NOC) at our corporate headquarters in Marshalltown, Iowa.
  • Our NOC monitors 90+ communication sites that provide services to over 300 separate public safety agencies and 10,000 end-users.
  • NOC Operators ensure our networks operate at peak performance and help coordinate internal and external resources to perform routine maintenance and/or to quickly repair damage when it occurs.

What We are Looking For:

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate NOC Operator to work our overnight shift. Hours are from 5:00 pm to 5:00 am three to four shifts a week. NOC Operators understand that the services RACOM provides are an important piece of the 911 emergency response equation, and their work is critical to ensuring service uptime.
Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and event management of region-wide critical communications infrastructure.
  • Troubleshooting and escalation of network issues (Ethernet/T1/Microwave).
  • Utilize multiple network monitoring tools to help guarantee and maintain uptime for customers.
  • Answer and manage calls for service or support.
  • Document changes in the environment and notify staff/customers as required.
  • Open technical support tickets and assign them to/notify the correct entities.
  • Manage 911 call center alternate routing.
  • Other NOC related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • High School graduate or equivalent certificate.
  • Must possess a high-level of dependability and maturity.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work unsupervised and alone.
  • Good interpersonal and customer service/support skills.
  • Must be open and committed to continual learning in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
  • References required.

Suggested Qualifications (not required)

  • Associates/technical degree/relevant certification or equivalent work experience.
  • Understanding of change management, documentation practices, and standard operating procedures.
  • Utilize proper phone and radio etiquette.
  • Basic understanding of how radio and information technology systems work.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.
  • Demonstrated skills with the Microsoft Office 365 suite of products.
  • Capable of working in Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Experience with a work order ticketing system.
